From the mind of one of Bulgaria’s leading artists, Factuaw, comes BREZA, an imprint dedicated to shining a light on his country’s top producers. Previous editions have featured Nicooly, Kosmos., Timewalker, and now, for the fourth edition, he welcomes the boss of The Sunday Bunch, Georgi.
Today, we are focusing on the original mix of Georgi’s “Modus,” and for the label’s fourth release, this couldn’t be a stronger approach. Rib-cracking snares and deep, probing bass tones combine with sinister synths to set the scene of dancefloor devastation. This is only the start, as the synths get darker and more purposeful and when the 4/4 kicks drop in the serious business begins.
Over on the flip and label owner and talented artist Factuaw is in charge of the reworking of “Modus”. Harnessing the deep wapping bass from Georgi’s original version, the Bulgarian hotshot incorporates his own 303 bass into the mix and instead chooses to move down a more minimal techno route. A master in irregular grooves, the snare seems to trip over itself in parts but this only adds to the enjoyment of this wonky banger. The beauty in this track is that the individual element has so much character and power that with so little so much is said
