Having run parties under the 199 brand for some time, it is now time for the team behind the nights to step further into the record label sphere with their next digital release. Taking the lead is 199 members Front Bench and Birrell and they present a one two punch of club tools primed for the dancefloor.
Taking the lead is “Homer’s Toes” and what starts as a deep, groove based roller soon blooms into an electro-tinged monster. Deep, paddy bass tones reach the murky depths with ease, while the acidic synths whip the atmosphere into a frenzy. To balance things out, a rising arping synth line gently creeps into the latter stages helping to bring the track to a satisfying conclusion.
In support, “One Of Those” takes things down the breakbeat route with heavy hitting snares, a simple but massively effective phat rounded bassline. The vocal chops work really well here also and inject just the right amount of swagger and attitude required to carry the breaks. Distorted synths and a sweet arpeggiating synth line are added to really help dial up the attitude and the result is a finely weighted banger that still leaves plenty of space between the beats to give that all important swing.
