Premiere: M.James – Shabbabs [Eagervision Records]

Eagervision Records return with their first install of 2019, inviting Goya Social Club resident M.James to start the year. The London based collective have been throwing events across the city since 2015, inviting the likes of Cap and more.

Off the back of a solid, well received EP with Oscillate Records, M.James has been crafting his scope of delicate minimal house, both in his residency at Goya as well as various gigs across Madrid, playing alongside likes of Seb Zito, East End Dubs and more.

‘Shabbabs’ opens the EP with a slick, driving bassline, buried beneath a tight drum pattern. A celestial chord sequence seeps into the mix, casting above the sharp rhythm, the soft, fragility of the chords lather the beat with feeling, balancing groove with emotion.

The track maintains a refined approach throughout, silky shifts in hi-hat patterns instil energy into the mix, along with a tripped out vocal, introducing new sections. The other tracks of the EP delves into acid territory. Squelchy 303 bursts dart between an array of stabs, sustaining the sleek, minimalist dynamic familiar with the likes of UK’s FUSE London and pioneering Frenchmen Apollonia.

Don’t miss Concentro EP, out on Eagervision Records on 21 January 2019
