Santa Maria Electronics makes its debut as a new label from Giulio Gastaldello, and the man himself takes the lead on the first release. Today, we dive into its standout track.
“Transition,” the closer of the record, starts as a fairly heavy track with bubbling acid elements. Initially, it leans toward the “tools” category—simple and functional—until the voice samples enter the mix, adding a catchy twist that transforms it entirely. Easily the best track here.
“Collapse,” also on the B-side, is heavier still, with relentless stabs and a punishingly hard kick from start to finish. “Soo True” takes things into broken beats territory, labeled as a “DnB pitched downbeat,” offering a calm yet big-room feel. Meanwhile, “Cellophane” brings another stripped-down banger with a hard kick, always a favorite style.
It’s an impressive start for Santa Maria Electronics. While “Transition” stands out as a personal favorite, all four tracks seem destined for heavy rotation. If you agree, the record is ready to buy on KMA60, Deejay, and Decks.
