Hypnohouse label premieres their seventh release as a “journey through the duality of solace and survival” and there’s a reason, why we can see a pixelated version of their logo. Zolaa., who made this one is currently in the Ukrainian Army, this is only his first solo release after the start of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war.
“Vesna Krasna,” in the B1 position, is the most interesting track on the record. Why? The answer is simple: All the voice samples here are easily recognizable in Ukraine (but not THAT easily outside the country)—we can definitely hear the folk act. The name helps, too. If you’ve seen any videos from the annual Masnytsya event at Closer lately, you’ll understand better.
Staying at the B-side, “Frog Party” continues the light mood of the previous track, kinda trading the vocal samples for buzzing basslines. And the last one on the record, “Nature Is An Organism” takes us in some different direction – that’s something Nicolas Lutz would LOVE to play, I guess. Let’s wait for the videos?
The record starts with “Excited,” and after a short intro, we have a light, trippy, and spooky track at the same time. This is mostly because those vocals, too, work perfectly with the pads. Another one from the A-side, “Padlyuka,” stays in the same mood, being just a bit more energetic, which feels just right.
A complex work by itself, not to mention, that it comes from a guy, who’s currently risking his life for his country. If you liked it – Juno, Deejay, and Decks are waiting for you already. By the way, there are a few easter eggs inside the release, maybe you’ll find some of those.
