The Ukrainian Hypnohouse crew are almost ready with their third strike. The main part of their legacy will always be associated with Lviv, but sometimes they are seeking help in other cities. Like Kyiv, where our today’s hero and part of the mighty Closer and underdog THP gangs – Trippsy resides.
One of the most important people in the Hypnohouse history is making a comeback here. After a spot on the label’s debut VA (it also was the vinyl debut for Trippsy) he made appearances on Twig and, recently, on FTF Records. And now it’s time for his Hypnohouse solo entrance.
The B1 we are hosting today doesn’t just have the same vibe as his track on HPNHS001, but could also be a perfect illustration for the sound of the Hypnohouse parties if you’ve never been there. Kinda weird but always perfectly working mix of electro and house that could even seem funny, but would always linger in your mind after the music is gone. In the words of Trippsy himself, “intertwining of classic Detroit grooves with signature trippsyfying mood!”. By the way, the words you hear in the track, are coming from his mouth – how about that kind of a plot twist? In real life he sounds a bit different, I must say…
As you might guess, today’s EP is from the darker part of music that is landing at Trommel. With the vibes of Hypnohouse (you better check their previous EP with Saverio Celestri and Corp also) and the sound of Trippsy (that could be easily imagined in the rosters of, I don’t know, let’s say, Libertine or My Own Jupiter) it could not be different. The starter of the A-side, “Music Goes Back” gives us a little rest in its deepness, but the following “Odessa” immediately adds some acid slow cooking here. And the finishing track on EP – “Store”, which could be considered a reworked dub version of B1 leaves us with the same mixture of vibes we just told you about in the previous paragraph.
Actually, all together they sound like a proper party night in 25 minutes: warm-up – headliner or two – afterhours. During all these COVID-19 restrictions it even feels like a substitution of their usual release party. Don’t know if this was the plan.
