Having enjoyed a three year hiatus, there is no denying that they are back now as they present a stacked release that includes tracks from Bajo Tierra (Ricardo Villalobos & Washington Miranda), keepitgoing. co-founder Siddhartha, and Wata with Jorge González of Los Updates.
Taking aim firstly at the dancefloor bomb of the release from Siddartha, “Poema 4” flexes electro genes but with a finely tuned modern slant that is certain to make waves. Excellent sound design means that the rumbling bassline is captured in high fidelity along with the pin point percussion. The shimmering atmospherics sit perfectly alongside the bleepy rhythms that drive the track forward.
Completing side B is the mystical “El soul de los que sobran” from Wata featuring the mythical vocals from Los Updates’ Jorge González. From the opening heavenly distorted percussion, Jorgé launches into a wistful tale of freedom and destiny that carries the listener away on the musical winds that can only be found blowing through the streets of Chile.
Flipping over to side A and the full side is dedicated to the joint work of Ricardo Villalobos and Washington Miranda under their Baja Tierra guise. In true Ricardo fashion, the beats are stretched and warped to wrap around Washington’s vocals like a sub tonal blanket. Few releases in recent times have brought together the calibre of Chilean artists that KEEPIT002 has and this high bar that has been set by keepitgoing. will see the label continue to go stratospheric.
