Sweden’s Surfaced Trax returns with its second release – Sub Sonics Vol. 1, featuring tracks produced by Parallax Deep, Weirdvin aka Edvin Wikner, and Kasvo. Following a successful first release last autumn, the label owned by Parallax Deep continues to delight us with more material full of character.
In today’s spotlight, we have the second track of the record “Morphing”, produced by the Stockholm-based artist Weirdvin, that shapes up as a hypnotic minimal techno groove designed to captivate the dancefloor. Featuring swirling melodies, unconventional vocal sampling, and puzzling sonic textures, it makes a great build-up for an ecstatic dancefloor experience.
Parallax Deep skillfully takes on the role of both closing and opening the compilation with finesse. “Submerged” on side A1 and “Sediment” on B2 present two exceptionally groovy and deep journeys, characterized by emotive pads, sub-basses, intricate syncopated rhythms, and innovative sampling. These tracks offer an immersive interpretation of deep techno, reflecting his distinct style.
Moving back to B1, Kasvo’s “Karura” is a finely creative, dub-infused stroll in a deep, dark forest, where nature’s very own sounds are sampled as the perfect rhythm and atmosphere tools, relying on a thumping kick and bassline for total immersion.
With all these elements in place, the first volume of the Sub Sonics series promises to be an electrifying highlight at any upcoming event.
