Premiere: A2 – Vinaya – Mau Studio [FREQ001]

Today we’re having another inaugural release for a Ukrainian label. This one is called Frequencies Records and we can see the gathering of, let’s say – not so obvious producers from this country. I guess, when you hear “Ukrainian minimal”, the names of Rayo, Vinaya, Peshka, and Dibe are not the first thing that comes to mind. Well, that’s a bad thing.

Because, for example, our today’s guest Vinaya is a huge one. Wex, Black Pony Orchestra, and Telomere Plastic have seen the greatness of his production. And, if you missed all of that (poor you), now, you can see it too. His “Mau Studio” is one of those perfect examples of a delicate banger, that could turn every party into something bigger. To be honest, I don’t see tunes that powerful and still minimalistic anymore nowadays. To all producers – if you can – move in this direction, we desperately need more of those.

On the A-side, we can also hear Rayo, straight from Odesa. His “Purkhavka” here is a bit more energetic piece of broken house with some tribalistic elements of chants in the background. If you’re a fan of those – don’t sleep on this track. Peshka and his “Spozaranku” are waiting for us at the start of the B-side, and we’re having one more broken tune, this time with a little step into the territory of electro. The other leg is definitely on the house country. The final one here is by the label owner Dibe. His “Exchange Pleasantries” is also a bit broken, still the most minimalistic tune on the record, despite all the fat buzzing here (besides our premiere, of course).

The record is going to be out very soon. If you need something to put on your delicate shelf – here you go. Juno, Deejay or wherever you’re buying your wax.
