Moving in Silence is the new label led by Velasco. Originally from New York, the now Berlin based artist is known for his representation of the New Yorkian sound. Combine that with Berlin grown minimalism and an affiliation (and now residency) with SlapFunk, one of the most respected crews on the continent, and you have yourself a recipe for greatness.
Together, these elements bring forth a most talented professional with a knowledge of sound that crosses multiple borders. This does therefore make him an ideal candidate to put forward his own platform, bringing forth an exciting time for the man in question. In collaboration with new Berlin outfit Tanzform, (who we recently caught up with here to discuss their own project) Moving in Silence is now in action. Landed is the one chosen to represent the first sounds.
‘Enigma’ EP is made up of four floor-ready beats set to light up clubs around Europe and beyond. Striking the balance between rolling bass line and trippy minimalism, it’s easy to see why this might fit securely in the hefty, hypnotic beats that can often be found in a Velasco blend.
Perfectly underground, the title track is structured with a simple yet stomping sound, driven by an electrifying melody that rotates with rave. Dashed with splatterings of acid, it remains simple in its elements, yet charged enough to release a certain looseness on the floor.
‘Enigma’ sits tastefully next to the twisted, lower slung flavours of ‘Disco Trance’. Over on the B side, ‘Crypto Station’ continues those feels of the mysterious, with ‘Awareness’ bringing up the rear on a freaky, electric charge.
