Mont Lake Records return to the record stores with their fifth release. The Austrian outfit have kept true to their word of pushing quality over quantity. Releases remain infrequent, but the standard does not falter. The latest in the vinyl only series features a full EP from DJ Honesty alias Honeydrop.
The Portugal based artist is long since known for his affiliation with Cabinet Records. With over 20 years of making music under his belt, his sound has been primed and developed. The Honeydrop project has moved with it. And with longevity comes expertise, making this four tracker an impressive addition to the Mont Lake platform.
A deep bassline fuels pulsating groove in ‘Dubtopic’. As simple melodies trickle gently through sharp percussion, a killer deep house beat is brewing. Cool energy builds towards an atmospheric break, held together by an oozing acapella and a light synthline. Injecting acid into the groove makes for the icing on the cake.
A perfectly positioned dancefloor warmer, it’s easy to picture this one deep into the warmup in a murky club room. Pastel colours cutting through the fog. And a nice bassline nuzzling those patiently waiting eardrums.
‘Dubtopic’ is accompanied by three more house cuts, flipping over on to side B for something a little more light-hearted in ‘Charles Was There‘, before ‘Holy Cow’ brings proceedings to a close in driving fashion.
Buy the record from decks.de. Expected release date 26th May. Be sure to also check out the DJ Honesty remix we were pleased to offer out for free download back in April last year.
