Premiere: A2 – David Agrella – Amfexa [SHR009]

Launched in 2018 and run by three close friends united by a shared passion for electronic music, Seven Hills Records is a London-based label dedicated to releasing high-quality sounds, from dancefloor-driven club tracks to experimental ambient compositions, sourced from a diverse range of producers and DJs. Helmed by Jordan, Dan, and George, the label has become a key player in the local scene, and today we’re diving into their ninth release: Frequencies Vol. 1, featuring no fewer than six different artists: AG & Kompo, David Agrella, Rupert Marnie, and Young Adults duo.

Today’s premiere, David Agrella’s “Amfexa” on side A2 takes you into a melodic and atmospheric journey within its first seconds. This one leans into dreamy textures layered over a dub-tinged percussive loop. Snippets of Italian vocals drift in and out while shimmering strings emerge halfway through, amplifying the emotional resonance.

AG & Kompo’s “Lunar-Ex” on A2 is a smoky blend of dub-soaked chords and tripped-out delays that set the tone, with an acid bassline rolling underneath. The groove stays fluid and spacious, striking a balance between heady depth and floor-ready momentum.

Flipping over to the B-side, Rupert Marnie’s “Parapsychic” on B1 is driven by a punchy electro backbone; this cut hits with sharp kicks and snappy snares. The groove remains loose yet focused, with a saturated bassline and vintage vocoder touches that lend it a distinctly old-school flavor.

Last but not least, “Exothermic”, Young Adults’ work on B2 brings in a hypnotic hybrid of minimal, electro, and dubbed-out techno. Dense FX work and crisp 909 hi-hats build tension throughout, pushing the energy forward without breaking the trance-like spell.

“Frequencies” volume 1 is now available for digital pre-order, with a wax release expected this August, so stay tuned and keep an eye on their socials for the latest updates.
