Earlier this year, French artist Damien Almira aka Timid Boy announced the introduction of his own music label, Almira Records. The vinyl only platform serves as a space for Almira to release his own productions, alongside hand picked remixes. Only favoured artists will join him on the wax.
Timid Boy productions have been in the mix since the naughties. Alongside other own label Time Has Changed Records, he has featured releases on the likes of Amam, Saved and Tulipe. As he continues to distinguish differing sounds between Damien Almira and his pseudonym, all ears are on his latest project.
io (Mulen) joined on the first release, with Mihai Popoviciu joining on the next. We have original track ‘Blond Tall Speed’ on the premiere.
Little time is wasted with the record opener. Cool breaks kickstart the beat before thumping bass takes over. Rugged bassline pummels through a deep groove, tickled by glistening melody that intensifies with the build.
Keys fire in constant, structured in layers of streaming softness. Echoing synth emanates warm feels, floaty notes of swirling in the rhythm as deep tech drives energy. The break is short and sweet, enough time to get lost for a moment before the bass brings it back.
This one is most primed for peak time dance, with Mihai Popoviciu offering a more stripped back sound on the remix – a luscious deep house warmer that delves a little deeper. The EP comes to a close with ‘Awao’ ft. u_datcha, bopping euphoria fixed with the soft sounds of French Russian voice.
Buy the record from decks.de, due for release Friday.
