A familiar name for regulars here, Roman Khropko, teams up with another Kyiv legend, Luschn, for the debut release on Lisopylka Records, a label founded by yet another Kyiv wizard, Lisovskyi. Enough name-dropping, let’s hear some tunes.
If you’re already acquainted with Luschn’s sound, you’ll know he’s a fan of heavy, stripped-down bases — and “Rozchyn” is a textbook example. The kick is colossal, evoking the feeling of walking near a brutalist megastructure. A quirky main melody and swing-infused percussion complete the picture, making it a standout opener.
Next is “High Hopes” by Roman Khropko, which carries a similar vibe. It features stabbing basslines and anxious, jittery vocals that somehow sync together perfectly. On B1, “Never Defeat Me” by Luschn takes things to a whole new level of filth. It’s raw, heavy-metal-style electronics — absolute madness. Closing out the release is “Obsession” by another familiar name, Vitya Payal’nik. Surprisingly, this is one of his “lightest” tracks to date. But don’t be fooled — while it might be lighter in tone, it still packs a bigroom punch that can shake any dancefloor.
Lisopylka Records promises to press more copies than Lisovskyi’s previous label launch (Fib Records’ debut only had 42 copies!), but don’t take that as an excuse to delay. The pre-sale on major record stores is already underway, so act fast on Juno, Deejay, or Redeye.
