Dublin based Laughing Man shapes the debut vinyl release of his label Standalone Records.
The Irish artist has seen a strong sequence of releases in recent years, working together with Ukraine’s Viktor Udvari in a release for Berg Audio, alongside well-received solo EPs for Japan’s Fasten Musique and Druzbah.
Establishing the label’s identity, Laughing Man’s recognisable dubby strains of minimal house seep throughout the EP.
The premiered track ‘Movement’ explores warm and elegant textures. Varying energies bring versatility to the track, with soft chords suiting a mood setting warm-up, yet a buoyant bassline sings in unison with lightly swung hats calling for a highlight moment within a set, played at the right time and through the right sound system.
‘Daydream’ completes the A side, meandering through angelic moods pinned beneath a neat broken beat, with a slick collaborative effort with Leeds based Kepler on the flip side.
