For the next edition of BienAimer Music’s digital series, they welcome burgeoning artist Gregg Mira to the fold. Here he presents the four-track “Night Logic” EP that bristles with peak time, lush textures and upfront grooves.
We first of all turn our attention to “Tokyo Drift”, and we find Gregg in a decidedly dubby mood. Perhaps the most chilled track on the EP, there are shades of dub techno encapsulated by the circular vocal pads, paddy synth stabs, and clicky percussion. There are some smart detuned elements that come into play that help to keep the ear interested while maintaining that all-important groove factor.
Taking the release back to the beginning, we find the titular track “Night Mode” that kicks off the EP in fine style with a smooth tech house rhythm, but with added nuances and style. The inclusion of a pitched-up vocal gives just the right amount of attitude. “Breaking Boundaries” is a much more relaxed vibe and leans heavily on a soundscapey synth motif, but kicks in all the right places.
Completing the EP in style is “Transmetropolitan”, an exceptionally well-rounded dancefloor bomb. Taking elements from the previous tracks on the EP and melding them into a new beast, this is a surefire hit around sunrise when the party temperature is sitting around boiling point.
