Sascha Sonido shapes the 30th release for UK label Habit Records.
The crew’s prolific output has been a staple across the minimalist rosters, with many well-received releases like Parsec’s EP back in March, as well as the off-spin XXX Culture release gaining heavy support from the likes of Arapu, Cosmjn, Nu Zau and more.
German producer Sascha Sonido returns to the imprint with four fresh cuts, after providing the 25th release late last year. Dialing into luscious moods in the premiered ‘Fargo’, Sonido showcases his ear for moreish, melodic tendencies that cast an effortless, dreamy atmosphere.
Pinned by a nimble, spiraling bassline, simple percussion forms this strain of loopy, laid back house coated with enough character and interest to never grow sour. Subtle chord stabs chug the arrangement along, occasionally dipping into a brief breakdowns and neat hi-hat changes.
Each cut explores a pronounced mood, with the romantic, dub-techno vibes of ‘Love Me’, working vast chords dripping in warm reverb, complimented by slippery percussion and slick vocal blips.
The respected Swiss producer Marc André, aka M.A. takes aim at the title track with an elegant reshape. Atmospheres remain within the dubby, reverb heavy realms, bending reassuring synth work between a lively bassline bringing a satisfying contrast to the track.
‘Tron’ and ‘Sonus’ lift the energy in Sonido’s conclusive cuts. Percussion heads towards a slick, garagey sound destined to get the floor moving, whilst retaining the emotive, storytelling vibe from melodic structures.
Habit Records have been pivotal in the new movement of culture-swapping sets of today. Bringing a varied geography of producers, their output taps into interesting combinations, such as lively UK flavours working with the sultry, patient vibe of the Rominimal movement.
Each track is available to purchase individually, along with the entire EP at the label’s Bandcamp
