The streak of top-notch releases keeps going from Raw Senses, Orsolini’s alter ego focused on deep, organic grooves. Now reaching his fifth digital album, “RED” stands as his latest collection under the alias, delivering four certified club weapons.
Wavy synths and housey stabs set the tone on “Ekrixi”, the opening track of the album. Sporadic drums and a funky bassline steadily build momentum, while refined percussions and groovy pads add character and depth to the piece. The idea (i.e. of the track) is to make you feel the explosion of lava as it breaks through the rock of a volcano that is about to erupt.
Moving on to “Lava”, and the pace slows slightly, inviting us into a more introspective mood. With its lower tempo and subtle techno influences, the second track on RED takes us into a journey of rhythmic contemplation and sound exploration. The kind of track that could easily be played at any moment of a DJ set and fit in just right. It makes you feel as if the semi-solid lava were already flowing down the slope of the volcano.
“Pompeya” wastes no time. First seconds in and you’re already stomping your foot. A groove bomb sprinkled with bouncy beats and punchy drums that make it impossible to stand still.
The lava eruption has to come to an end, and “Benedictio Vesuvii” marks this final phase in the brightest way. With ethereal notes and an uplifting feel, the closing track invites us to a moment of pause, a chance to take a breath and enjoy the moment.
