Italy based Idriss D has been a staple of the music scene since an early age and since his formative move from North Africa to Italy his career began to bloom. With a history steeped in the magic of vinyl, this led to Idriss forming the long running Memento Records imprint back in 2006 alongside Fabrizio Maurizi.
As well as being an esteemed label head and well known booker for dB Artists, Idriss is a gifted DJ and producer. With a long run of outings on his beloved Memento Records, he is also on a constant tour with previous appearances at some of the world’s most influential booths that include Tresor, Watergate, Rex Club, Privilege, and a residencies at Barcelona’s Macarena Club and Cocoricò Riccione.
With such a legacy in electronic music we are proud to host a mix from Idriss D on this week’s podcast edition. Recorded live at his Memento Records residency at Macarena Club in Barcleona, Idriss has distilled his style over several decades in the game. The multi disciplined creative flexes his many musical hats throughout the two hour plus run time. From deep percussive moments, through subtly crunched minimal and emotive atmospheres, there is always a sense of control and outrightly informed thoughtfulness that goes into every curation and transition. This is not a skill that can be taught, one that can only come with experience and dedication to one’s craft.
