Tropical Animals founder Ricardo Baez has been making his way through the scene at an impressive rate. With early releases on the lauded Berlin imprint Toy Tonics, he soon gravitated to more underground sounds via Night People NYC, Mule Musiq, as well as a pair of releases on Live At Robert Johnson in the second part of last year. In parallel to this journey, Ricardo devised the Tropical Animal’s project that has been active since 2010 with the label arm being providing a force in the scene since 2018.
A stalwart of the Italian scene, Ricardo’s productions are wide ranging with more than a dash of electro added to most facets of his work. It is this acidic tinge that is featured on his appearance on our Free Download series. “Thank You (The Closing Track)” is the type of epic, synth laden bomb that punctuates the closing moments of Ricardo’s and easily countless others sets. Emotional, heavy hitting, and more than a little poignant, the spine tingling vocals and delicate percussion is capable of rousing even the most jaded of floors come the definitive moment of the night.
