In advance of our collaboration with production outfit Conexiune, we sat down with Răzvan Colceriu to find out more about their origins, their current tact, and where the project is headed. One look at the Conexiune Instagram and it is clear that the style and delivery has been well thought out. The contemporary, yet romantic direction of the shots show a touch that is seldom found in such a young group of artists, but maturity in design comes from someplace, and Răzvan explains the initial idea behind Conexiune, “Being close to the scene and meeting the artists gave us an inspiration to dive deeper and connect the artist to the listener. We decided to explore the topic and create a full length documentary.”
With so many moving parts to these inside takes on such a quickly growing industry it was important to find out where their own origins lay, “Having a passion for this sound and a background in video production – it was only natural to explore this topic from our perspective. We met in an ex-science lab of converted warehouses playing music with some mutual friends. It wasn’t long after we’d decided to join forces and start working on this project.”
Minimal music is at the very core of what Conexiune hold dear and they are doing a great job of demystifying the artistic process of these revered names. Raz begins by pointing out his initial thoughts on the journey, “At the moment the project is purely based around the pioneers and the generation that followed.” He goes on to highlight his own artistic process, “Early on we’ve decided to do all interviews at the artists studios. It is usually the place where they feel creative and able to express themselves. This leads to a very pure discussion full of experiences and knowledge.”
Having already tapped serious players in the form of Cristi Cons, Vinyl Speed Adjust, and Cosmjn to name just a few artists, it is clear that they are shooting for the moon with each interview they conduct. With a whole scene to choose from it was interesting to learn how the crew decide who they should focus their efforts on, “We’re interested in finding the artists that were highly influenced by the early days of the scene. Artists who took inspiration and evolved the sound into something unique. Ultimately it’s the artists we admire.”
While it is clear that Conexiune have big plans given what they have already accomplished, Raz was keen to begin making moves to wider audiences, “We’re looking forward to our collaboration with Trommel and TROI and release day of our first interviews. We’re also working on a next trips to shoot more interviews with some very exciting artists. In the long run, we are hoping that Conexiune will become a platform for information and inspiration on the wider scene.”
