Since Why? Not Zanzibar closed up their second season, the nomadic collective has been on their travels around Europe. They have taken in many of our scenes’ finest parties that have seen events take place at Sunny Side Up Festival in Malta, Yellow House in Amsterdam, Rhythm Point in Ibiza, SlapFunk at Bret in Amsterdam, La Terrazza in Barcelona, Underground in Ibiza, Mirari in Lisbon, Club der Visionaere in Berlin, Akasha in Ibiza, as well as their upcoming ADE event. While on their travels Why? Not have been expanding their already bulging team of long-term affiliates in preparation for the new season in Tanzania and we can confirm that the initial parties for the new season can now be revealed.
By the time you have read this article, the idyllic party locale has already thrown its doors open to welcome back like-minded creatives and travellers to the sunkissed beach of Paje. Running from November 6th until late February, the 24/25 season kicks off in earnest with a homegrown night that will see Merem from Low Key Recordings play an all-night-long set. With a few down days in between each event to allow the event the legendary breathing space, on 10th November there will be the first of a breathedeep doubleheader and the latter event will take place on 13th November.
The controls return to the club where, on 17th November there will be a night solely programmed by Why? Not, and if you have visited the club over the last few nights you will know how talented their residents are. Moving towards the end of such an exciting period in the season, Why? Not will be welcoming Ibizan shakers Rhythm Point and if you have visited Ibiza this past season with a view to combining outdoor dancing and underground sounds then there is a high chance that you will have come across these riotous parties. Nestled in a hidden enclave of the island, this leafy mirage is a home away from home for many of the visiting guests and local artists that inhabit Ibiza. This would prove to be the perfect collaboration for Why? Not where they will be setting up shop for two dates where they will be front and centre on 20th and 24th November. Hot on the heels of the Ibiza-based crew is the Italian team of Outcast Torino and there is little doubt about how this meeting will go. Taking place on 27th November and 1st December, this group of selectors are infamous for their laser-guided party programming and unearthly skill in uncovering electro-leaning gems. The prospect of having this crew touching down in paradise is a mouth-watering prospect.
Another hotly awaited arrival is that of fellow Italian outfit – Brich. Their must-attend events have welcomed the cream of minimal and having just signed off on their fifth anniversary; this is a suitable celebration to be jetting in to bring the heat to the already sizzling Paje. The important dates to remember will be 4th and 8th December where the beachfront club of Why? Not Zanzibar will be put through its paces once again. Launching on 10th December, Refresh will aim to present a slightly different musical angle but with the same exceptionally high standards set by the myriad of artists and promoters previously. Why? Not will again take the reins on 11th and 15th December before week two of Refresh will again roll around.
Edging ever closer to the business end of 2024, there will be a few day’s rest before the intimate Christmas Night event. With last year’s party being soundtracked by Baloo, there will be even more musical highlights this year you can be certain of that. The club residents will again be in full force when Why? Not will take care of soundtrack on 29th December, before the almighty New Year’s Eve party that will be programmed by the collab of Airfunk and Low Key. The final lineup of all these fantastic parties are a closely guarded secret that will be revealed in due course, but we can confirm the pool of artists that will be performing each month.
