Waking Life has announced the next series of artists invited for this year’s edition.
The Portugal-based project will present its sixth edition on 19-24th June 2024. Since its inception in 2017, the community-led initiative has evolved into a year-round operation, working to regenerate the local land and raise awareness of ecological and environmental questions in the region.
Spread over six days, the curation features a vast array of sensory delights. Alongside the carefully curated 24-hour music policy, discussions, workshops and performances touch on local traditions and ancient culture, new technologies or ecological issues, as well as different wellbeing practices.
Our review from 2018’s edition highlighted the interesting approach to 24-hour music policies. A healthy amount of downtempo and ambient is tailored for the daytime, setting a more relaxed pace, allowing revellers to recover and enjoy the full six-day curation.
Over 30 live acts have been announced so far, including the likes of Edward, Aleksi Perälä and Thomas Melchior who are regular features of the festival. The curation features a lot of repeat artists, creating some informal resident-type situation where artists are encouraged to evolve and present something different each year.
There is a unique fusion of electronic and world genres with bookings like Henry Wu and Kaamal Williams, bringing a touch of UK jazz and interesting artists like Mr. Scruff to Portugal. Perlon legend Zip will also feature this year, as well as Kyle Toole, Barbara Preisinger and Joe Delon B2B Gwenan.
The second wave line-up is per the below and more artists are to follow. Read more and buy tickets for Waking Life 2024 here.
