Shining a light on Malta’s music scene Sunny Side Up (SSU) continue to curate top notch parties. Since 2017 the crew have been pushing their concept of Sunday raving, if you’ve just got up or not managed to make it to bed yet, you know it is a safe haven for raving. “Whether you’re in need of rejuvenation or up fresh on Sunday morning, we welcome you to Sunny Side Up”. How could this ethos be any more welcoming?
Lovechild of brothers from different mothers, Sunny Side Up is headed by Luke (U-Jack/Covert) and Danny (Danny Vibe). The pair share more than a passion for rejuvenating the Maltese electronic music scene, as they run events, make music together and perform as UJ/DV. These efforts combined have seen them making waves across Malta and the rest of Europe, the SSU kitchen will be cooking up a storm this year with confirmed collaborations with some of the continents most hotly tipped party crews. Fuelled by the desire to expand on Malta’s burgeoning scene as well as bringing those Sunny Side Up vibes for revellers to enjoy as something fresh.
Previous Sunny Sunday times have seen the crew welcome a host of international talents as well as showcasing the local roster of selectors, boasting Cabanne, Samuel Deep, Borrowed Identity and Ben Sims to name a few. Their most recent event saw “The Queen” Dana Ruh grace the decks at SSU, the German house and techno legend has earned herself a solid reputation for delivering fiery sets with serious style, not to mention her extensive catalogue of releases that time and time again provides some high-calibre dancefloor artillery. Through championing Maltese talents alongside a host of global hotshots SSU have put themselves at the forefront of the island’s electronic music scene, curating for a unique vibe that only a sunny Sunday morning can radiate.
Later this month they join forces with Lisbon-based vinyl outfit and record shop, Carpet & Snares Records as they showcase their sound in Malta. This event will see house music legend Brawther return to the island alongside Carpet & Snares founder Jorge Caiado, who comes with an expectedly large record bag. These two will be sure to bring those sun-tinged house party vibes and with the warmup in the experienced hands of party founders UJ/DV, you know it’s a safe bet. Sunday 21st of May let the SSU crew take you from 10am right through to the evening as they soundtrack your sun-kissed Sunday raving.
