Rio Hostel in Colombia announce details of their 4-day Bonanza Festival

With destination events on the rise there are few far flung stops that could beat Rio Hostel in Colombia’s Caribbean costal Buritaca. The idyllic hostel located in the Sierra Navada has everything a traveller could ever wish for – private beach, sundeck, bar, garden and a mind-set from the organisers that means that top notch international and domestic artist bookings and events are at the forefront of their social calendar. With the hostel due to celebrate their 6th birthday shortly with Peach they certainly know how to throw a party.

In recent years at Rio Hostel they have seen their Bonanza event grow from a one day party to this years’ four-day extravaganza. Running from Thursday, March 2nd through to Sunday, March 5th, across the long weekend there will feature a wide cross section of old hands and debutant selectors that fit the remit of the full spectrum approach to their musical program.

One such artist that embodies this full spectrum soundtrack is Midland and the Graded boss is a dab hand at melding world vibes with house and techno to devastating effect. Also, new to the party is American ace Liquid Earth, Basic Moves’ Walrus, Cali’s Julio Garces, as well as Rachiid Paralyzing hailing from Barranquilla’s small but thriving bass music scene.

Returning to Rio Hostel will be serious talent in the form of DJ Dustin, Unai Trotti, Anna Wall, Azkuenaga and having already made the trip to Colombia they will be well versed in what goes down. What these artists might not have experienced before, as it is new for this year’s celebration, is the ambient and chill-out area. We have also been reliably informed that this area will also be hosting unannounced sets from some of the events main artists.

As well as the new chilled area, there will also be a brand new peak time area where the more techno leaning and breaks based artists will be laying down the serious beats. Here is where you might expect to catch a rare set from Ambien Baby aka D.Tiffany and Colombian born NAP, now that would be something special given their sought after productions and joint performances. Bonanza residents Nicolas Duque, Adi and Leeon will be providing that all important local flavor where the Rio Hostel sound will be extremely well presented across the weekend.

There are many more highlights to come during the second phase announcements but the infamous “Hasta Abajo” floor will open up on the Saturday where the best in Colombia’s Perreo, Reggeaton, Champeta and world music scene. This is where you will find nationals Mareana, Miss Champus, Sonyer and many more taking control of the sweaty second space. The weekend long festivities don’t just stop at the music as the location as a whole as much more to offer than just beats.
