Mad Signal invite Quest and tINI to Bucharest for an open air session

The Romanian collective Mad Signal returns this summer with another carefully curated open-air gathering, bringing its distinct blend of underground house, techno and electro back to the unique surroundings of Scânteia at Casa Presei Libere. Taking place on Friday 21st August, the event continues the Bucharest crew’s commitment to intimate programming in spaces that feel as considered as the music itself.

Set within one of the city’s most distinctive cultural landmarks, Scânteia has evolved into an artist-run creative space where music, architecture and visual arts naturally intersect. The open-air location offers a fitting backdrop for Mad Signal, whose events have steadily become recognised for thoughtful curation and an atmosphere that favours connection over spectacle.

At the heart of the lineup sits Quest, an artist whose reputation has grown rapidly through a fearless approach to DJing. His sound comfortably navigates the space between techno, electro and broken rhythms, with clear nods to hip hop and turntablism woven into his selections. The result is a style that feels unpredictable yet deeply coherent, delivered with the kind of infectious energy that has made him one of the most exciting selectors on the circuit.

In recent years, Quest has become a familiar face everywhere from Berghain and Time Warp to more intimate institutions such as Hoppetosse and CDV, while now calling Barcelona home after spells in Italy, London and Berlin. His label, La Nota Del Diablo, reflects that same adventurous spirit, championing emerging producers whose music regularly finds its way into his sets.

Joining him is tINI, a veteran selector whose influence on underground dance music has remained constant for more than two decades. Equally comfortable playing intimate after-hours or extended festival sessions, her ability to shape a dancefloor through patient, groove-led storytelling has made her one of the scene’s most respected selectors. Rather than relying on quick peaks, tINI’s marathon sets are built through subtle shifts in mood and rhythm, making her a natural counterpart to Quest’s more explosive energy.

Behind the event are Mad Signal founders Dumitrescu and Mihnea Rog, two artists who have become key figures within Romania’s alternative electronic scene. Emerging from Bucharest’s celebrated post-minimal movement, both have developed a sound rooted in groove, restraint and careful musical selection. Earlier this year, the pair took another step forward with the launch of Mad Signal Records, introducing the label with a sold-out debut EP that reflected the same values underpinning their events.

As both a record label and event series, Mad Signal continues to strengthen its position within Romania’s thriving underground community. With Quest and tINI leading the charge beneath the summer skies of Scânteia, the latest edition looks set to deliver another evening built on quality programming, distinctive surroundings and the effortless spirit that has become synonymous with the collective.
