Perlon artist Maayan Nidam has and will continue to be one of the most in demand names in minimal. Whether that’s as a result of her minutely programmed EP’s that pepper the back catalogues of labels such as Yoyaku, Wolf + Lamb, her own Hellium imprint as well as long players for Cadenza and Perlon.
Clearly a favourite with many of the world’s top promoters and clubs Maayan constantly offers weekend highlights so it was only a matter of time before a slew of new summer residencies would be cemented. The first residency to begin baring fruits this season is for one of Lisbon’s most long running electronic music venues Ministerium Club. Maayan’s bi-monthly appearance actually began last year but recently she welcomed Andrew James Gustav and this weekend past performed live with a supporting set from Giegling’s Konstantin who will make his debut at the club.
The next residency is made for the summer and will be for Ibiza’s Keep On Dancing. The party that regularly takes place at the iconic Bora Bora Beach Club on the White Isle will see Maayan be given the task of programming the musical direction for the duration of the party. Maayan is a selector at heart and so recognises DJ as a highly-prized art form and she gives a little insight into her way of thinking for her residency, “For Ibiza I plan to invite what we call DJs-DJs. True artists that are welcome to come and express themselves.” With Maayan and her crew of associated artists at the helm there is nothing else to do but keep on dancing.
