As soon as we started to hear about Dimensions Festival 2022, as they celebrate their 10th year in Croatia, we knew that this year would be a big one. It almost exceeded our expectations when we saw the full artist list, and then heard about the afterparties. But now that the boat parties’ line up is revealed, we can definitely say it: it is going to be absolutely massive.

Every year at Dimensions Festival, a boat can take you on a journey around the clear Adriatic Sea of transparent waters, with finely curated DJs to keep you on track. This year, collectives and DJs are taking-over the boat for three cruises a day, each curating the event for unique vibes only. Expect takeovers from DJ Stingray 313, DJ Storm, Dr Banana, Berlin-based DJ duo The Ghost, Spanish LGBTQIA+ collective Maricas, London-based crews Picnic Records, Freerotation and Fabriclive, a collaboration between Butter Side Up and Spaced crews, a special cruise paying tribute to UK DJ Alex T, Italian collective After Caposile and one of our favourites Moroccan label Casa Voyager.

On the Friday, September 2nd Detroit master DJ Stingray 313 will have the honour of opening the boat parties as he will kick it off with his unique electronic/techno sound, followed by The Exaltics and a few more names that are yet to be confirmed. Second takeover of the day: DJ duo The Ghost are bringing down their vibes by opening up the session with their own set. They will then leave the decks to Gene On Earth, and later on, make space for a very special B2B by top selectors Sugar Free and KRN. Finally, closing the first day of the boat parties, Maricas Records will take over the first sunset at Tisno, starting off with a B2B of head behind the label ISABella and a Trommel favourite Vlada. They will then be join by Bermudian NY-based artist Russell E.L. Butler, bringing his emotional bangers onto the sea, and Hackney-based DJ Jaye Ward. Yes it is already a massive line-up, and yes, this is only the first day.

To kick off the Saturday, Dr Banana is taking over the first cruise of the day and has prepared three B2Bs to bring the best of his catalogue to Tisno. He will lead off by warming up the boat as he will share the desk with Jeremy Sylvester, before giving space to his partner in crime Alec Falconer, who will go B2B with UK artist T Dunn. Eliza Rose and Helena Star will close this session before bringing the boat back to the festival site. Expect dubby track, bumping house, silly vibes only, that’s for sure. Collective Fabriclive are taking over the last cruise of the day with a special B2B between DJ and producer Batu and Rinse FM radio selector and DJ Jossy Mitsu. DjRUM will finally bring his unique rhythmic UK sound before making space for Bluetoof. Last but not least, London-based record label and collective Picnic Records are in charge for the second takeover of the Saturday, bringing no-introduction-needed DJ duo Laurine & Cecilio, who will be followed by Truly Madly and later on by resident Andy Luff.

Midway through the festival, Sunday is as promising as the other days in terms of the boat parties’ line up. DJ Storm is the first one to get on board, bringing his jungle, drum ‘n’ bass, footwork and juke’s influences onto the sea. For the occasion, his set will be followed by a very particular one selected by futurist Sherelle and later on LCY. For the second takeover of the day, London collectives Butter Side Up and Spaced will join forces to bring their bumpy house and silliness on a cruise trip. Selector Joe Delon will share decks with Berlin-based DJ Gwenan, followed by the famous DJ duo Hamish & Toby, before letting Spaced crew heads Tho & Loren closing up the session. At 8pm the same day, the cruise will leave one more time Tisno, this time to celebrate UK DJ Alex T who passed away two years ago. For the occasion, Peach, Adam Pits and Bugs Groove will take turns behind the decks for the best moment of the day, the golden hour.

Getting on towards the business end of the festival and Monday will be the time to gather your last forces because organisers have cooked something special to end on a high note. Heels and Souls are bringing the legend that is Move D and later on Paula Tape and Heels and Souls will soundtrack the boat. Second takeover of the day is curated by Moroccan record label Casa Voyager. For the occasion, they’re bringing Detroit In Effect, followed by Ciel and co-founder of the label OCB aka Driss Bennis perform alongside Freakenstein to close the session bringing his spacy and futuristic beats down to Croatia. And as if there couldn’t be a better way to end this whole thing, for the last sunset of the four-day festival, Italian collective After Caposile will be bringing with them from Venice a very special guest which you will need to wait to find who that is. Caruan will follow bringing his unique jazzy vibe with him, before making space for Yaar.

You may have understood it, there is definitely something for everyone at these boat parties, and it sure will be a highlight of the festival. So grab your tickets quick before it’s too late! Boat parties tickets are purchased separately via the Dimensions website.
