Closer touch down in Dubai for a showcase at Industrial Avenue

After the bitter sweet news that Ukrainian collective Closer will be closing down their record store operation we are excited to learn that they will be on their travels again shortly. Having linked with many top crews and venues in recent years Closer will be taking their brand of underground music to the Middle Eastern emirate of Dubai. Here they will be connecting with Industrial Avenue, a newly emerging haven for high quality electronic music that is finely curated by lovingly dedicated artists Ju Lovett, Dea and Kirill Zhan. As well as their finely curated in-house nights, they also run their own techno night Secta at the stripped back venue. They are also the proud owners of one of the only Danley Sound Rigs in the region and for anybody that has experienced one of these systems they will know that the quality and power of sound is truly unsurpassed.

The team have done a great job of reimagining the venue for the modern dancefloor and the modern clubber. Their inclusive and open minded events have become the talk of Dubai and they are in the process of ushering in a new era of clubbing in the UAE. Having recently welcomed none other than Georgian uber-club Bassiani for a sold-out session they now welcome another Eastern European powerhouse in Ukraine’s Closer on Saturday, February 18th.

Flying the flag for Closer will be three extremely well known residents in Karine, Shakolin and Bruno Schmidt. The first two artists go hand in hand both behind the decks and out of the booth and regularly spin together at only the finest parties. While they have undoubtedly put Ukraine on the map with their club they are currently exploring the world with various collabs and now Dubai’s Industrial Avenue joins this illustrious family.

Long-time friend and club resident Bruno Schmidt will also be in attendance on February 18th. Like his Ukrainian brother and sister his bulging record bag has taken him around the world with recent stop offs in Barcelona, Brighton, Tbilisi and his home turf of Berlin and that has just been since the beginning of this month. Providing the warmup that will set the tone for the Closer team will be team member Kirill who will play under his Technical Issues guise and new resident Mor0. In such a short space of time the new iteration of Industrial Avenue in Dubai has grown to become a serious music destination in the burgeoning Middle East scene and this upcoming event looks to cement their place as major players on the world scene.
