Review + Premiere: PHÖ001 – Niko Maxen – Khonsu EP

Spanish label Phörus launches their label with a 3-tracker from Pathway Traxx owner, Niko Maxen.

“Our vision is to focus on new talent who produce new and fresh sounds,” says Jordan, who runs the label with fellow music lover Claudia, both based in the Canary Islands, “we want to work with people we share the same love and vision for music. Niko is a perfect example of somebody who shares this vision.”

Niko’s music has already featured on a few labels in the past 12 months, including Romania’s Tzinah Records, where his abilities to manipulate a wider array of sounds where shown with his album ‘Thank You Life’. For this release, a collection of scattered hats help compliment the grooves depicted in the tracks, offering sounds that could be compared to the works of Fabe or Alexis Cabrera, yet still extremely unique.

‘Aten’ has a spacey pads that drifts through the track, along with effects and percussion that match. The second track ‘Ptah’ has a slightly deeper feel to it, using synth cords that set a moodier vibe, more geared towards the after hours. ‘Khonsu’ is our favourite, a party track set for any time, anywhere, with the ones you love – definitely one for the summer, and the guys at Phörus have kindly allowed us to put up a full version premiere of the track!

The follow up to this release will be from Moonlit Vision, with a remix from one of London’s finest – Rich NxT!

The tracks have featured in recent mixes from Rich NxT and Archie Hamilton, and have received support from other selectors from the FUSE camp, as well as Brett Jacobs, Lauren Lo Sung and Hanfry Martinez.
