Premiere: A2 – MehdiM – Break The Juno [SAKANAT001]

Having recently profiled Egyptian crew Sakanat and their rise from counter culture party promoters to starting the one of the first underground record labels in Egypt, the time for their first release is finally here.

Kicking off with A2 and title track ‘Break The Juno’ which is by far the most bombastic track on the and harks back to the energetic and breakbeat led house music of the 90s’. MehdiM‘s soaring synth’s taken from the iconic Juno synth and it sounds anything but broken to us. The bumping bassline that sits right pride of place in the mix is joined by some perfectly timed spinbacks, bleeps, and of course the heavy-hitting snares.

Rewinding back to A1 track ‘Panorama 6am’ and it is clear that MehdiM knows exactly what works on the Panorama Bar dancefloor come sunrise. Taking a similar vein to that of ‘Break The Juno’ the peak time daybreak vibes are in full effect. Flipping over B1 track ‘Higher Peaks’ tones things a notch with a dreamy house groove that bumps and pops in all the right places. Completing Sakanat’s first tidy release is the wigged out spacey ‘Acidozo’ that tweaks out a gnarly electro bassline that allows the EP to finish as strongly as it started.

You can pre-order MehdiM’s ‘Break The Juno’ EP from deejay.de, Phonica Records, Juno Records, decks.de, YY. and Technique Tokyo.
