Condesa Club resident Chavi has carved out a rather unique testing ground for his productions and his EP for Pampanam Records can be seen as a snapshot of the club. He has curated a rather impressive collection of tracks that discusses the various modes of the club as well as the Paraguay scene.
On this occasion we will be reviewing in reverse order and B3 track “Grow with Me” harnesses the unique energy of the Paraguayan scene perfectly. Alongside Condesa Club resident Chavi, Matias Espinola hooks in many sonic thoughts into one succinct bleepy package. Starting life as a bass loop that soon “grows” into the fire breathing monster that typifies the local scene and the club that plays host to the many visiting hitters.
B2 track “Burning Sky” is a breakneck weapon that manages to do serious damage in its relatively short run time. Dark synths pummel the ear, while the intensity is dialed right up to the max along with inserts of mindbending reverb and repeating vocal snips. Completing side B is “HIgh As Fuck”, which as you might have guessed by the track name there are plenty wide eyed moments to drink in. Repeating rounded bass notes keep the dancefloor engaged while synth pads, and synth stabs engage the mind.
Flipping over and side A has even more forward thinking bombs to get excited about. Titular track “Unreleased Data” leans heavily on the filtered drum loop that soon blooms into the full bodied version soon enough. Hypnotic vocals herald the arrival of more rib shaking basslines and even more sultry suggestions courtesy of a well known pop originator.
“Sarambi” is next to take the floor and Chavi chooses to strip things right back for this one for the large part. Utilising a huge bassline, ramped up BPMs and ravey synth stabs, the drop is especially well crafted with the use of some outrageous delays. Rounding a very impressive EP from Pampanam Records is “4TiNi” and again huge dark bass tones feature heavily. The dark mood here gives a glimpse of what you might find during a night spent in the expansive Condesa Club, which is a must if you ever find yourself in Paraguay.
