Premiere: B2 – Floorfillers – True Price [DISTRICT10]

With a wealth of music already available on their Bandcamp page, Parisian outfit Floorfillers now present their debut vinyl EP “District 10”.

We begin our look at this floor filling EP with the euphoric side of the release “True Price”. Leading out, the rattling percussion adds jaunt the right amount of wonky movement to balance against the string section that gently creeps in against the backdrop of a wiggly acid line. A delicately crafted track that hints at the acid house era of yesteryear with the verby congas and piano notes that offer the lighter elements.

The remainder of the EP is not so soothing as the stripped back nature of the tracks reveals the tougher side of the Floorfillers sound. First is “Les Enfants Rouges” and the raw bleepy acid stabs combine perfectly with the striking synth pad to conjure up images of a packed out warehouse rave.

Energy levels rise even further with “Aciduité” and there is no prizes for guessing the chosen sonic tool for this weapon. As before, the track is designed intentionally sparse with the onus being on the individual parts to take center stage and the cracking snare cuts through to really glue this track together. Completing this debut vinyl release is “The Rail Track” and the rumbling bassline that underpins the track takes no prisoners.
