An artist who has been on our radar for some time now, Argentinian producer Dani Labb, now helps to launch Psyché Records. Dani offers up four storming electro bass originals with enough punch to cater for even the toughest of floors.
We take a reverse approach to PSCH001 where Dani Labb’s “Drive9” takes centre stage. The atmosphere is something a little different from his usual peak-time bangers. As well as the track featuring his excellent drum programming and unreal bass tones, Dani also edges down a more progressive route, which combines very nicely with the rest of the release.
The remainder of side B belongs to “Critical Level”, which is a sure-fire floor detonator. Stripped back, perc-heavy grooves lay the foundations for the noisy bassline to do the required damage, and damage it certainly does in spades.
Flipping back over to side A, you will find more of a “regular” sound from Labb. Heavy-hitting snares combine with wonky detuned synths to build tension against an equally detuned bassline. Completing the release is “Lo que piensas”, and here Dani incorporates spacey synths with an ethereally floating vocal, which works great against the dystopian atmosphere.
