Premiere: B1 – Seafoam – Me Two [VS001]

Known for his acid flecked deep dive jams, Seafoam is back with a four tracker but with a difference. Finding its home on brand new label Violet Series, where they will be presenting a no-nonsense approach to vinyl where the music does the talking and the heavy weight violet coloured wax features top drawer music. For the first release Seafoam will be offering a pair of remastered gems from yesteryear on side A and 2 brand new cuts on side B.

We pick up the record on side B where ‘Me Two’ is a super deep breakbeat number and for fans of Seafoam this will tick a lot of boxes. Shimmering pads, ethereal synths, aciddy basslines and a certain funk that only Seafoam effortlessly eases into his productions. B2 ‘Decent Paranoia’ is noisier affair, with modular percussion still underpinned with the moody synth work that has become Seafoam’s calling card.

Back over to A1 and ‘You Pump It’ and it seems to not have aged a day since its original incarnation on lo-rise recordings back in 2004. The slightly swung breakbeats may conjure visions of the time but the deep hitting bassline and arping synths still hold water. The dreamy ‘Forge’ completes the record and it is not clear at what point in the past that this came into existence but the world is better for it. Dancing xylo notes playfully slide around the musical scale while more acidic synths work together to offer the full trip that quickly envelopes.
