For their second vinyl release, Easy Latinos Records have lined up a 4 track EP from co-founder Juan Ferreyra. Comprising of three electro-charged originals and a stunning remix from Max Montana, this new edition bristles with attitude.
We begin our overview of ELR-002 with A1 “I Didn’t Buy My Dr Märtens”. The roomy snare heralds the arrival of a slinky Italo heater that manages to succinctly package several moods together very tidily. From the forlorn vocals to the bold bassline and subtle percs, the action really heats up once the airy vocals fall away to reveal the reduced synthy bass tones that will easily elevate the mood.
Moving onto A2 and “I’m In Love With A Gen Z Girl” and beginning where the previous track left off, the gnarly bassline does serious damage here. Paired nicely with fluted synth and lush soundscapey pads, it is right back to work once the beats and vocal musings about a mysterious girl drop in.
Flipping over and B1 “Waiting” which features vocals by Max Montana, tapers side A’s dancefloor chops very nicely. In a similar vein to perhaps earlier Depeche Mode, the chilled mood is balanced perfectly with the subtle acid touches and deep bass tones. Completing the release is “Fino & Elegante” and the excellent disco references are used to great effect here. From the tumbling tom hits and soaring synths stabs this the perfect closer to yet another sterling release from the Easy Latino’s.
