It’s always fun to premiere music from a hometown legend. Especially, the name you saw on posters on the walls of your city in your middle school (as DJ Mihal back then). Today, we feature Lviv-based electronic music veteran DJ Mihal, now known as MHL72, who has a few appearances on labels like Purism and Na Zrak Records. Damn, he’s so old, you can even see the MySpace link on his SoundCloud page (with a very interesting top-8 there). This time, he’s releasing on In Dushe, a sublabel of Ukraine’s Dushe, both known for their focus on deep, minimalistic sounds.
“One Word” is the main one today, and it is showcasing (a rare thing!) a meticulous arrangement where every click, clack, and squelch is audible and intentional.
“Another Dawn” takes things even further into stripped-down minimalism, with a more serious, meditative approach to percussion and fewer distracting elements.
Being very minimalistic with the words here also – the release drops on December 13, and pre-orders are already live on Beatport. Go!
