From their long running events in Morocco, Supervibe has developed the finest testing grounds for their equally long running label. For this edition the two main players in the Supervibe setup have collaborated on each of the four tracks that make up the “Future Fly” EP.
Kicking off the EP full of energy is the filtered funk of “Future Fly”. Bristling with the loopy musicality that exudes from Chicago’s house scene, the pairing of Memed Awad and Moruki get stuck right in with this peak time houser. Once the repeating chords finally filter into view they are met with complimenting sub bass and shuffling percussion.
Next is “I Love But You” and the pair have crafted another feelgood house bomb that undoubtedly soundtracked some of Supervibes more uplifting dancefloor moments. Dubby synth stabs reverberate around the auditory field as the crisp snare peppers the drops. “Can’t Give Up” treads a slightly darker route and further proves the credentials of the minds behind Supervibe. Ravey stabs and vintage percussion are primed and ready to rock as the grooves toughen up around them.
Completing the lineup of SVM020 is “Love & Hate” which again heads off in another route but one that looks to round out the musical picture nicely. Skipping snares and swirling pads set the scene for the expertly cropped vocals, that perhaps in another life might have been a hip hop or soul anthem.
