Today we’re taking you into a bit of unusual spaces for Trommel, but who doesn’t like a good digging, right? We’re looking into a new release from Kyiv’s Fusion Jams crew. On their own No Time For Swing label. If you don’t know the names, it’s ok, they are a Kyiv-based community and a quite popular event series for musicians, aimed at contemporary instrumental and jazz music. But we found the way to bring a piece from a release like that to us.
The release brings together six of the most vibrant representatives of the Ukrainian alternative scene on one side and remixes by contemporary producers on the other. The styles are very varied here, and, probably, the names won’t tell you much, but all those are quite big names for Kyiv and Ukraine, being an often guests on the festivals, like Strichka or Brave.
Like, you definitely saw some videos from Maslyana at Closer, where the Shchuka-Ryba ensemble is performing live during some house sets of The Ghost or Sibil. On this release, they have a drum’n’bass edit from Hidden Element. The king of Kyiv filth BADWOR7H gives his usual powerful spin on 19.99’s track. Or Monotronique, who is a well-known connoisseur of all kinds of bass music, reworks BITLO’s track. But that’s all not really interesting for a Trommel reader, right?..
Finally, “Superstar” by Lucas Bird. With the Seba Korecky remix and recognizable beat. Seba should be known to you from the Vertuha party – probably, the most powerful guest event at Closer right now. The party, which is heavily oriented on disco (and all genres near it), is the place where you can easily hear music like this – some mid00s, or late00s feel, but not because of the genres you heard here a hundred times, but maybe something into indy scene… That is really close to electro-house – and here we are.
