If you’re familiar with Memory Remains label, run by Kirik, you should be excited right now since they are having a sidekick label Lode Records from this December. The label is very promising and, at least so far, is dedicated to the broken sounds and rhythms. And we can’t get enough of them in the world of house music.
Today’s release could be cut into two parts – the more electry one and the more breaksy one (don’t want to call them just “broken”, you know). Our premiere is on the breaksy B-side, so we’re going there right now.
“Post U” by the so-called “well-known unknown artist” could be easily described as a tool. I often do that, but, you know, I’m just being straight here. The track is not straight at all, still, the chances that you’ll hear this tune in house sets are much bigger than in some broken ones. Perfectly designed breaks, great arpeggio during the whole 6 minutes, vocal samples that are fitting just right… If that’s not a tool, I don’t know what is.
Also on the B-side we can hear the sibling of our premiere, the track called “Blanco Roto”. Less melodic, but with a pinch of suspense throughout its whole lifespan. The A-side starts with a very melodic take on “Please, Don’t Leave Me Lonely”, which sends us straight to the edits by Memory Remains chief – his hand is definitely felt here. And add a top-class broken rhythm on top of this lovely mood. “What Time Is Love” uses smaller pieces of the vocals here, but could easily be called a sibling of the A1 too.
That’s it – if you feel that you’re in need of some broken sounds in your life, inside your bag or on your shelf – Juno, Deejay or Redeye are ready and waiting for you.
