Hope you’re hungry because Maïté Records is serving up another tasty release. The label, dedicated to soundtracks for friends’ gatherings, is bringing us ingredients one by one. The first release gave us ramen; today, Marius (with Occibel on YouTube) is making croissants.
Starting with a sinister tone, “Expresso (Pills & Chill Mix)” quickly flips into a light electro-house party banger with a huge nod to… let’s say, the Ed Banger era. Sexy vocals, fat basslines, and that dancefloor feeling with hands in the air. That’s it. Occibel’s “Hazelnut (Roasted Mix)” on our YouTube channel offers a calmer vibe but keeps nearly all the same elements — just trade the sexy vocals for some sexy vocoders, and you’re set.
And there’s more. Emi Omar starts the recipe with “Croissant,” adding filtered guitars and a hint of moaning. “Potatoes (Fall Mix)” by GRiNCH takes a synthier path, while “Pickles (Jazz Mix)” by Ramo Ime leans into a robotic disco. “Milk With Coffee” by Messes Basses brings a bit of deep house, “White Fish” by Don’t Doubt adds an energy boost to the deepness, and finally, “Asparagus” by Lucas Moinet & Stupid Flash wraps it all up with (yes, again!) a sexy downtempo. Downtempo asparagus for dessert, hmhmhm…
The LP is up on Maïté Records’ Bandcamp. Don’t forget your knife and fork!
