Artesano Titer joins the lengthening list of artists making waves over in Uruguay. A certain electro breakbeat sound has been championed by this side of the world. Particularly in the Latin centre. Ever-increasing in popularity, this is a blend of minimal packing with it a certain punch that has made its way across continents.
Titer is the latest pushing that sound and he has made an EP full of it from all corners. The URU label joins Ratiug, another platform championed by Titer and his comrade Elias Sternin. Sternin has warmed up the dance floors of Montevideo, playing before the likes of Loco Dice and S.A.M. Titer has channeled focus into his live setup and now, we’re seeing the fruits in URU001.
Varying intensities shift across four original tracks. ‘Entrando Al Portal’ closes out the record with a gritty number laced with acid and plenty of oomf. This one is all about the bassline, full of grimey groove and tinged in dark electro. Slightly sinister melodies steer a winding path of the rave while sirens rotate in a whirlwind of hectic.
Next to this one is ‘Robot Mallet’ on B1, a little more groove-focused, more stripped back but winding dutty all the same. The A-side features ‘Bellissimo’, a driving banger that takes no prisoning on the opener. ‘Ouroboros’ goes deeper on the acid to complete the set. Each track is quite full of elements, giving plenty of sensation for the ears.
The record is distributed by STO Records and can be bought from Red Eye Records or deejay.de.
