Launched just at the midpoint of 2023, Australian label & event planner Motion Potion Records run by Jono Xidias, Mehmet Alpdogan, and ritmiq is back in the game with its second release—Signals EP, featuring one of the label’s founders ritmiq, who joined forces with local heroes Lewba and Louís for this charming musical affair. “Signals represents a musical journey that celebrates both artistic growth and human connection.”
Today’s spotlight is ritmiq and Lewba’s “Transmitting From Space” on side B1. Just as the name suggests, the spatial synths and cosmic sounds that flow seamlessly throughout the track take your mind straight into an outer space journey as you listen to its trajectory. Combined with the subtle breaks and its mystical melodic line, all its composing elements make it quite the midnight banger, truly fit for a Berlin-style rave.
Flipping back to the A-side and Louís and ritmiq’s track on A1, “Interplanetary Prisoner” surely energizes you with its choppy synths and sporadic kicks. Their second track in this formula, “Parallax” on side A2 is all about ambiance, creating a truly moody and mindful vibe that absorbs you into its mystical spell.
“Nebularae”, ritmiq’s only solo track on the album is closing it in the most vibrant, animated way, with pulsating rhythms and striking snares, a dancefloor-ready timeless piece that gets you up and has you dancing in a heartbeat with its infectious energy.
