Premiere: B1 – Moulin – Japanese TeleTom (Nintendo Mix) [BMR003]

It’s been a while since we premiered the launch of Thomas Moulin’s Baguette Magique Records. Initially the label head himself gave space to other associated talents. This year, he makes his own debut with his latest EP ‘Vegapunk’.

The French artist has been channeling his sound with a busy touring schedule over the summer, playing the likes of Sophie Festival and Les Enfants Brilliants in Barcelona. In between, he began his own Baguette Magique event series in Madrid and clearly, they are already well and truly on the map.

Here we present ‘Japanese TeleTom (Nintendo Mix)’. As the name suggests, you’ll find yourself deep in the video game. Playful melodies bleep through textured synth samples, plodding along into its own cyber adventure. Japanese narrative teases into a trip, with jutting lyrics bouncing through the futuristic. As it spirals into the groove, Moulin brings a blend of dance floor fire with a weird and wonderful twist. Quirky, unique and a cleverly crafted celebration into the Japanese pop culture sound.

This one sits alongside ‘Nostalgic Cyborg’ on the B side, together bringing a deeper house sound with warming rhythms. Over on the A, you’ll find it more driving, fuelled with flavours of the 90s. ‘Rocky’ opens the record with high energies, thrust into the formidable dimensions of ‘Gecko Maria (Zombie Mix)’. It’s a four tracker that brings forth a myriad of electronic realms.

‘Vegapunk’ is available to buy from Yoyaku or deejay.de.
