Connessioni are back with their fourth release and, in line with their usual format, label boss Lorenzo Fortino is serving up the goods alongside one of his close associates. A common theme continues to emerge as the Connessioni catalogue grows, fronted by an artist who values friendship and connection as much as the music itself. This time, it’s longtime friend Francesco Salvadori joining Fortino at the studio controls. The result is their first EP together, following on from last year’s collaboration ‘Egal’. Friends Above Berlin cements a meeting of musical minds that has been blossoming for over a decade.
Four tracks make up the vinyl release, with a digital bonus for the downloaders. On the premiere we have ‘Positive Attitude’, sitting in the first grooves of the B side. Playful melodies shimmer throughout, a feel-good flow that comes served with a smile. House grooves blending with the rougher edges of electro-fused techno, energy rising with every bar. Acid weaves in the back, forming a foundation of the building blocks that keep getting higher.
The B side continues with ‘Flying Through the City’, closing the record on moody, spaced-out electro rhythms that hit a bit harder. Futuristic in tone, it drifts through dreamy soundscapes, blending fiery textures with moments of melancholy.
Flip to the A side for ‘Heide’ on opening duties. Full of groove with a rugged bassline that reverberates right through your body. Dark minimal blends bleeps and bass into a sound that just might push the speakers to their limits. Infectious and unforgiving, cue repeat on this one. Alongside it, ‘Another Club Dimension’ shifts the mood, shining a brighter light with tasteful melodies and a knowing nod to the afters.
