Premiere: B1 – Floog – Majorific [GFD007]

When GFD launched back in 2016, the Romanian based label served as a space for Victor Ernuteanu to release his own productions under the moniker Guy From Downstairs. Fast forward three years and the GFD label has gone on to welcome several other players to the fold including Guti with fine-tuned, sporadic releases. GFD007 marks the first VA, Mythology.

There’s a host of talent on here, sounds oozing with Romanian flair and an equal split across each side of the record. Side A boasts the darker, growling numbers while B provides a happier, housey selection. Floog, a man well versed in electronic music production having made many tracks as one-third of Premiesku as well as his own, presents the latter with Majorific on B1.

The track is full of warmth from the off, a build-up of rising synths defined with a catchy echo of percussion. The bassline is prominent, a deep groove made up of only a handful of notes that sound sweet and simple. As a whole Majorific is a subtle, calming piece that hits a pivotal point in the middle with a focus on the euphoric melodies that bubble throughout.

This tasty warm-up track is an easy one to get lost to on the dancefloor, made for hands dancing delicately in the air alongside its faint tones. This is a flavour that Floog has been developing for over a decade alongside his partners Livio & Roby and it’s equally as interesting when he’s producing solo.
