Premiere: A2 – Tip Top – The Animator [PERSPECTIVE002]

Representing the city of Leeds, Mr. 0113 himself (also known as Kepler) is ready to present us the second installment of his vinyl-only label Perspective. And we’re listening very carefully since he got the mild All-Stars Game selection here.

On the first one you could hear the talent from Manchester – Nolga (landed also on Hoarder, Pathway Traxx, Aestethic and hedZup Records). The second one gives us four great talents instead of just one – the UK crew of Tip Top (our guest here), Wilda and Lyle. The French producer Ilyes from 2X, Kaizen Records and Ba Dum Tish could be considered as a nice foreign addition here with its opener. But today we’re going to talk more about the A2 track…

…which is made by Tip Top. “The Animator” is a very Kepler-ish track here, you can definitely hear the choice of the label owner. Almost 6 minutes of a quick and minimalistic approach with a little break in the middle of the track. Add some speed and you can easily imagine this on Kepler’s “Pacey Edits” series. Nothing extra, but you better not fix anything if it is working perfectly. Like this one here. Great debut on vinyl in a top-notch company for Tip Top! He’s got some words about it for us, by the way: “I put this track together in the fret and confusion of the first lockdown. I see it as a hopeful mixture between some of the brilliant music the pandemic has allowed for and the (then not-so-) distant memory of the dance floor. Listening back to the track and thinking about the highly anticipated summer, I hope this tune and all the other fantastic music released gets to satisfy the long-awaited shakedown prophecy.”

Talking about Kepler-ish tracks – Wilda’s “Concerned4What” is continuing the vibe on B1. And Lyle’s “Communications” is not too pacey but very spacey on B2. That was the quick tour on the UK part. Ilyes on A1, being the biggest name here, feeds us some “Alec Falconer on Art Of Dark” vibe at the beginning of his “IDFK”, but then transforms it into some amusement park feel (we agreed with that in our editors’ chat).

And all that is working perfectly together – as it should be in a good VA.

So, be ready to have it in your home collection in May – don’t forget to pre-order it on Deejay, or wherever you’re buying your wax.
