Lapse Records are presenting another split, this time divided only into two producers, not four, like the previous time. This thing shouldn’t bother you at all, since one of the producers is Marinella Constestabile (or just Mariiin), that should be well-known to you at least for her collaborations with Bobby., and the other one is Len Lewis.
The mention of Len Lewis, as you know these years, probably should mean that we’re having another trip to the 00s, lost and rediscovered tapes and unfinished tracks (gosh, that man should have a storage full of them somewhere). As I was told by Jessica from Lapse Records, “Do U Want It” is just an example of those. The noughties, Swag Records’ (or some close labels) vibes, signature echoes, grimey mood, a bit tribalistic intro that later turns into some weird almost 2-step progressive.
“Morpheus” on the A1 position is an excellent piece of breakbeat-house from the past, offering us a piece of talk, spread on the whole track alongside that spooky atmosphere.
Mariiin on her side went a little bit rough. “The Snake Is Changing It’s Skin” would be perfect in the middle of some Halloween set by, let’s say, Quest. The other one “Impasse” – is even more energetic, and also a bit brighter. A perfect background for cruising on some Normandy track in your Need For Speed Porsche 2000 unfinished game.
