DC Salas triumphantly returns to his Higher Hopes imprint with a killer and versatile 4-track release. Naturally, we got our hands on it early.
Titled “Pixelated Dream Theory,” the EP lives up to its name, delivering a no-nonsense blend of new beat and EBM, tailor-made for packed, raucous dancefloors. I believe those bustling spaces are commonly referred to as “parties,” but I could be mistaken.
Opening the A-side is “Acid Breath,” which shares a similar vibe to our featured track today but adds a bubbling acid twist. It’s dark, serious, and exactly how we like it. Meanwhile, “Blaes” on the B-side kicks off with killer percussion before morphing into a wild wobble roller. As for “Phased Dance,” it starts a bit lighter, but beneath its easy groove lies some serious rave energy. It’s my second favorite track on the record if you’re curious.
As I mentioned at the start, what we have here is a banging and versatile 4-tracker. If you’ve been hunting for something like this, rest assured, Juno, Deejay, Decks or Bandcamp have got you covered.
