Premiere: A1 – Nu Zau – No Internet Connection [CVLTD003]

Since their first release in 2015, Curtea Veche imprint have showcased themselves to be a label that do everything the right way in the music world. From the stunning artwork accompanied on all their releases to giving chances to rising stars to showcase their music on the label.

However, the label’s 3rd release on the limited series (CVLTD003) belongs to a bonafide stalwart in the minimal music scene. UVAR label-owner, Nu Zau, has had a fantastic year with his album ‘La Rascruce’ being well received and excellent features on compilations such as AKUVA002 as well as his own Stowaway.

At Trommel we’re proud to premiere the A-side ‘No Internet Connection’ of his forthcoming Slice Of Life EP.

No Internet Connection is nothing less than a fantastic piece of music. Within ten minutes, Nu Zau does classic Nu Zau, conveying a range of percussion and synths to create various emotional states. Through the first four minutes, the track comes across as one purely based on groove, created by hard-hitting claps, a smile-inducing synth a cowbell-esque snare.

Past the four minute mark, the track becomes more of an emotionally powered one thanks to the introduction of a beautiful background synth which comes across as a combination of esoteric and melancholic. Nu Zau is seemingly always looking for the dancefloor, but he’s never afraid to create emotive changes in dancefloor-ready tracks.

The EP also features two tracks on the B side. ‘Under The Sofa’ is a glitchy, dancefloor track which is sure to get you up and dancing thanks to the fluid bassline and infectiously catchy drums. Nu Zau’s mastery of programming synths is once again showcased on this track.

The name of B2 acts a foreshadower of what’s to come on the track. This one is far darker than its predecessors due to the harsher sounding synths which creep around the track and create an eery feeling throughout.
